Riders

The rider appears as a recurring figure, developing across different places and moments.

Each work is shaped by its specific context. In Romania, the figure extends horizontally on a large red bench, becoming more massive and grounded, almost part of the surrounding space. In Tunisia, a tall stool introduces a vertical structure, lifting the figure and shifting its balance. The most recent work is smaller and more compact, moving into an interior scale.

The form changes, but the figure remains.

Calm and composed at first glance, yet slightly unsettled. There is a sense of anticipation, mixed with hesitation and a faint note of surprise.

The works are made in stoneware, covered with pigmented porcelain slip, and left mostly unglazed. The surface remains matte and soft, almost skin-like, which feels essential to them. The color is limited to two main tones that interact and oppose each other, a recurring pair in my work.

Across these works, the rider holds a position between readiness and hesitation, between inner strength and uncertainty about what lies ahead.
